Winter Storm Warnings in affect for some; Latest storm update

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL)- Ahead of Sunday morning’s system, Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for several of our counties (Muscogee and southeast). A Winter Storm Warningis in place for Clay, Quitman, Randolph, and Sumter counties. These could be expanded.

Scattered showers will build later this evening, and once the temperatures drop this will transition to snow.

Southeast of Columbus remains the best for snow potential. In the areas under the Winter Storm Warning (Americus) snow totals between 1-3 inches are possible. Areas under the Winter Storm Advisory can expect to see less than an inch.

Travel impacts for most areas in the Winter Weather Advisory areas will be minimal, but slick areas on bridges and under overpasses are still possible.

Next Week: Once this front clears, we will see those chilly temperatures in time for MLK day. The good news, there is plenty of sunshine on Monday. Lows will sit in the lower 20s through Wednesday. Our next rain chance returns on Thursday afternoon…
