Safehouse to rescue Columbus homeless during bitter cold

Safehouse Ministries will be patrolling the streets of Columbus looking for homeless or anyone in need of warm shelter this week. “What we plan to do is we have a male van and a female van,” said Eric McClure, Director of Facilities and Staffing. McClure said the men, women and children will be taken to their respective shelters for assistance.

The non-profit also has a truck for anyone with bicycles or belongings that wouldn’t otherwise fit inside the van. “We feed them a hot meal, they can take a hot shower and pick out clothes,” McClure said. The vans will be running from 3 pm to 9 pm. Safehouse will also be partnering with local hospitals where homeless are known to congregate during cold weather…
