Columbus police investigate officer impersonation case in North Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Columbus police are investigating an incident involving someone impersonating a police officer in North Columbus.

The case occurred on JR Allen Parkway, according to Deputy Chief Jeff Bridges of patrol services. Details surrounding the investigation remain limited.

“So right now we are aware of an incident that occurred in Columbus with someone possibly impersonating an officer,” Bridges said.

Safety measures for traffic stops

Columbus police officers conducting legitimate traffic stops will always use marked vehicles, identify themselves and activate blue lights, Bridges said.
