Columbus Mayor declares Feb. 11 as “211 Day” to highlight community support service

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Columbus City Council members presented a proclamation at their Tuesday council meeting that recognizes Feb. 11 as “211 Day,” a day that recognizes the work and efforts of the 211 call team.

211 is a trusted resource in the Chattahoochee Valley that helps people navigate assistance for food, housing, healthcare, utilities, mental health, employment, childcare and more.

According to the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley, 211 of the Chattahoochee Valley responded to 13,486 calls and handled 19,662 requests for assistance. The most common requests include:

  • Healthcare & COVID-19: 215 requests (1.1%)
  • Housing & Shelter: 10,138 requests (50.%) – including rent assistance, low-cost housing, and home repairs
  • Utilities: 4,854 requests (24.2%)
  • Food: 1,932 requests (9.7%)
  • Mental Health & Addictions: 499 requests (2.5%)
