COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — After 30 years, the Columbus Fire Department is moving out of the Public Safety building and into a new facility with the goal of increasing efficiency and overall production of the department.
Feb. 11 marked the first day of operations for Columbus Fire and EMS in what used to be the old Georgia Power building located at 1100 Veterans Parkway. Columbus Fire Department Deputy Chief Daniel Macon explains that this project had been in the works for a long time.
“It’s been a dream for about six or seven years that I’ve known of; we’ve just seen it kind of coming to a head that we have to figure out a location,” Deputy Chief Macon said. “We’re having more classes, more recruits.”…
