COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Columbus city leaders are in talks to bring a $5 billion data center to the area in what would be one of the largest technological investments in the city’s history.
The Development Authority is partnering with Habitat Partners on “Project Ruby,” a data center facility planned for Muscogee County. Choose Columbus CEO Missy Kendrick said officials are being deliberate about the location and construction of the facility.
“We are looking at the far northeast corner of Muscogee county,” Kendrick said. “It’s an area that borders Harris County and Talbot County and also Columbus Muscogee county.”
Water capacity assessment underway
Kendrick said officials are working to determine if there is sufficient water, sewer and power capacity in the proposed area. Columbus currently uses 31 million gallons of drinking water daily, but the city’s infrastructure can handle much more…
