Columbus Airport Commission fills two vacancies, sees third resignation

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – The Columbus Airport Commission filled two vacant seats Tuesday during a special meeting that also saw a third commissioner resign, bringing the total number of recent departures to three.

Commission Chairwoman Delois Dee Marsh acknowledged the resignations of commissioners James Barker and Philip Badcock, then nominated Kevin Howard and Austin Gower to fill those vacancies. During the meeting, Commissioner Dannell Mastrean also submitted her resignation.

Outgoing commissioner cites concerns

Mastrean, who served four years on the voluntary, unpaid commission, said she was concerned about the timing of the resignations and the appointment process.

“It is concerning to me that we will be adding additional members to this commission that will all be in block and not separated by time because it allows you to have new voices coming in over time,” Mastrean said during the meeting…
