Midweek warmth builds before weekend storms and a cool down

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Wednesday morning! We are waking up to a milder and mostly cloudy start across the area, and you may run into a few spots of patchy fog early on. Temperatures are hovering right around 50 degrees, making for a relatively comfortable start compared to recent mornings.

As we head through the day, expect skies to remain mostly cloudy to overcast. There may be a few occasional breaks of sunshine, but overall the clouds will be in control. Despite the limited sunshine, temperatures will respond nicely, climbing into the low 70s by this afternoon. It will feel pleasantly mild for this time of year.

Tonight, clouds remain in place and conditions turn a bit muggy, with overnight lows settling near 60 degrees. The warming trend continues into Thursday and Friday, when we will be tracking near-record high temperatures.
