Del Taco franchisee closes restaurants without notice

Last week, the Del Taco in Phenix City was open until suddenly, mid-week, a sign on the door read “Out of Business,” but the Phenix City location wasn’t the only restaurant shuttered overnight. Multiple Del Taco restaurants in the Southeast have abruptly closed after a franchisee operating the locations filed for bankruptcy, the company confirmed Friday by email.

Del Taco corporate headquarters issued the following statement in response to the Citizen’s query:

“We were recently informed that the franchisee operating our Atlanta, Columbus, Macon, and Chattanooga locations has closed all 14 restaurants. This closure occurred without prior notice to Del Taco. The franchisee is currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, and we are actively exploring options to reopen these locations as soon as possible. Updates will be shared as plans are finalized.”…
