Prepare for strong thunderstorms in Alabama until 3 a.m. Friday – gusts could peak at 40 mph

The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 2:55 a.m. on Friday for strong thunderstorms until 3:45 a.m. for Montgomery, Macon, Bullock, Russell, Pike and Barbour counties.

Residents can look for wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

“At 2:55 a.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Fort Moore/Lawson Army Air Fld to near Pine Level. Movement was east at 45 mph,” says the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”…
