Six arrested after vehicle break-ins at Opelika apartments; stolen guns recovered

OPELIKA, Ala. (WRBL) – Opelika police have arrested four adults and two juveniles in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins at local apartment complexes early Thursday morning.

Officers responded around 4:52 a.m. on February 27 to a report of two men breaking into a truck at The Austin Apartments on Ballfields Loop. When officers arrived, they saw the suspects fleeing the scene in a burgundy passenger car.

While some officers stayed behind to speak with victims, others began searching the surrounding area for the vehicle.

A short time later, officers located a car matching the description at an apartment complex on Dale Avenue. Around 6:36 a.m., four males and one female exited a nearby apartment and were taken into custody…
