Jury Seated in 2023 Killing of Columbus Teen

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) -A 2023 murder case is moving forward in Columbus as jury selection begins in the trial tied to the death of 16-year-old Dayton Willis.

Willis was found in August 2023 in his aunt’s vehicle on the shoulder of Double Churches Road with multiple gunshot wounds and a .38 revolver in his lap, according to investigators. Columbus police later arrested 19-year-olds Andrew K. Crowell and Akiraon Reed, who each face multiple charges.

Prosecutors accuse Crowell and Reed, individually and as parties to the crime, of malice murder in Willis’ death on or about Aug. 31 in Muscogee County. They are also charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm…
