Warm and pleasant day ahead; stormy by Thursday morning with strong gusty winds

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Wednesday morning! The day is starting with clouds moving back across the region, giving us an overcast start to the middle of the week. The good news is that temperatures remain quite mild this morning, with readings sitting comfortably in the 60s.

As the day moves along, those morning clouds will gradually give way to more sunshine this afternoon. Temperatures will respond by climbing once again into the mid 80s, making for another warm day that feels more like early summer than early spring.

Later today, our attention shifts to the west where an approaching cold front is beginning to organize. This system will bring the potential for strong, damaging winds and even the possibility of a brief spin-up tornado. Because of that risk, tonight and Thursday morning is a Weather Aware day. The timing currently suggests the line of storms will move through during the predawn hours of Thursday. Some lingering showers will likely still be around after daybreak…
