Lee County deputy graduates from National Command & Staff College Program

The efforts put in by our local law enforcement toward professional development is important to our community, so it is important for us to recognize those achievements. Cpl. Vintel Thomas of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office graduated March 6 from the National Command and Staff College’s Command and Staff Leadership Program as part of the program’s Session No. 034.

Thomas has served with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office since 2019. He is also a sergeant first class (E-7) in the Army National Guard assigned to a military police unit in north Alabama. He initially began the Command and Staff Leadership Program in February of last year as part of Session No. 033. He restarted the program with Session No. 034, beginning in September of last year, after being activated for military service. He completed the residency portion of the program in Orange Beach in February and March of this year.

The National Command & Staff College’s Command and Staff Leadership Program is a graduate-level leadership development program designed to strengthen leadership skills for public safety professionals. The program includes 240 hours of online coursework and an 80-hour residency component. Participants complete online and classroom instruction, lectures, 41 essays, practical exercises, a capstone research paper and case studies covering topics such as leadership, personnel management, officer wellness, professional culture, ethics and crisis communication…
