COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Warmer weather means more families are preparing to have fun with water activities, and local organizations are reminding parents to make sure their children are wearing a life jacket.
Safe Kids Columbus and Piedmont Columbus Regional are placing life jacket stations at several boating ramp locations along the Chattahoochee River. The goal is to have at least one life jacket for every size to decrease drowning deaths.
Georgia Department of Natural Resources reported there were 61 drownings in Georgia in 2025. All of those individuals did not have a life jacket…
