RUSSELL COUNTY, Ga. (WTVM) – A friendly rivalry between two Russell County fire departments has spilled onto their roadside signs and social media pages.
Who’s the best volunteer fire department?
The light-hearted signage war began on Tuesday with the Ladonia Volunteer Fire Department initiating an overnight mission at Uchee Creek Volunteer Fire Department. LVFD firefighters left a message on UCVFD’s marquee that said, “LADONIA VFD IS #1.”
In addition, LVFD updated their own marquee to say “LADONIA VFD VOTED #1 by UCHEE VFD.”
Uchee Creek calls the message “Fake News”
UCVFD responded on Wednesday. Underneath the message on their marquee, left by LVFD, they posted the message “FAKE NEWS TRAVELS FAST.”
UCVFD firefighters also traveled to LVFD to place a sign over LVFD’s marquee. The sign included UCVFD’s logo and said “UCHEE CREEK VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT PROTECTING OUR COMMUNITY.”
Both stations posted their signs to social media along with playful messaging on Wednesday night. People following the fire departments responded in laughter and shared the posts…
