Apartment fire quickly contained in southwest Lee County; no injuries reported

A potentially dangerous apartment fire in Lee County was quickly brought under control recently.

On March 23, 2026, the Southwest Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Lee Road 660 following reports of smoke coming from a multi-family apartment building. The caller indicated smoke was coming from a single unit, and it was unknown if anyone was inside. Due to the nature of the call, the incident was immediately upgraded to a “working fire,” prompting additional units to respond.

Engine 711 arrived on scene in under two minutes with a crew of three firefighters. Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke coming from the eaves of a single-story apartment building consisting of five units…
