LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WRBL) — Piedmont Columbus Regional has named the late retired Army Sgt. 1st class and Lee County Deputy Sheriff Kevin Hagberg as the organization’s First Friday Hero for the month.
April is National Donate Life Month, and with the help of his wife, Jennifer, Hagberg became an organ donor after suffering multiple strokes at the end of 2025.
Hagberg served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Afghanistan. He then worked for the Russell County Sheriff’s Office and, most recently, at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
As Hagberg continues his legacy of service with his organ donation, hospital staff, family, and law enforcement honored his life and legacy, lining the hallways at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown on Jan. 8 for an honor walk to pay their respects.
