Members of the Bainbridge City Council and city staff reviewed possible designs for North Broad Street during their retreat in Columbus earlier this month.
Director of Community & Economic Development Steve O’Neil explained that the current streetscape was redone around 2003. Once the Georgia Department of Transportation finishes work on Whigham Dairy Road, the city will gain control over North Broad Street and “start doing things that we would like to see done.”
“We’re going to prioritize aesthetics and pedestrian safety versus the [Department of Transportation] mantra of moving traffic quickly and efficiently,” O’Neil said…
