COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Gov. Mike DeWine (R-Ohio) and Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, were in Dublin to announce the expansion of DeWine’s signature OhioSEE program, which provides free eye exams to elementary school students.
Tuesday’s visit comes as lawmakers undertake a major push for Medicaid reform, responding to allegations of widespread fraud among Ohio’s Medicaid-funded home health care providers.
Republican and Democratic leaders at the Statehouse have largely blamed DeWine for the fraud allegations. Democrats point out that the Republican supermajority has controlled Ohio’s state government for almost 20 years and must bear responsibility for any fraud or mismanagement under their watch. They also question the validity of the fraud allegations originating from conservative media outlets.
