How former coal communities in Ohio are counting on nature to attract visitors

SHAWNEE, Ohio — Tucked away in the small village of Shawnee, Ohio, is the headquarters of the Buckeye Trail Association.

“The Buckeye Trail is the nation’s largest loop trail. It’s over 1,400 miles long,” said Andrew Bashaw, the executive director of the Buckeye Trail Association.
