(WKBN) — Ohio’s statewide burn ban is officially lifted, but with the dry weather of late, Ohioans still should use caution.
The statewide burn ban coincides with typically dry seasons in the state, where wildfire risks are highest. Every year, the burn ban is in place from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. during March, April and May — then again in the fall.
Burning is limited in the spring due to the abundance of dry grass, weeds and leaves on the ground. Gusty winds and low humidity can make a seemingly safe fire burn more intensely and escape control…
