COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — More Columbus residents are raising concerns about overgrown grass and weeds in city parks after an ABC6 On Your Side Waste Watch investigation found the city is leaving some park areas unmowed for a variety of reasons including saving money.
The city has referred to the areas as “no mow zones.” Within 24 hours of the first report airing, dozens of viewers contacted ABC6 to say they are also affected. ABC6 Investigates has asked the city for a list of designated no-mow zones and is waiting for that information.
One viewer, Kimberlee Abels, sent ABC6 Chief Investigator Lisa Rantala video of Northtowne Park near Northtowne Elementary School in northeast Columbus after watching the report. In the video, she said, “I saw this story of yours. They’re not cutting the grass. This is Northtowne Park off of Northtowne Boulevard.” She added, “I live in a house here, and this has been the summer, the full summer. They have just not cut this square in the yard, as you can tell.”…
