ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – A massive 576-pound black bear is now being tracked in Northeast Ohio.
The large male bear was collared this week in Ashtabula County as part of a research effort involving the Ohio Division of Wildlife and University of Dayton researchers, according to info from the division of wildlife.

Staff biologist Katie Dennison described the bear as “unusually large” for the area.
She said it is likely a young adult in breeding range. Dennison said she did not expect to encounter a male of that size in the state.
