Westerville DiCarlo’s closes in ‘calculated move;’ sandwich shop to take over

WESTERVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) – An Ohio-based pizzeria has ceased operations at its Westerville location, making way for the spinoff of a Columbus sandwich shop.

DiCarlo’s Pizza closed at 20 S. State St. on June 7. More recently, Fat Arnie’s Sandwich Shop in north Columbus announced on Facebook that it will open a new concept called Fat Arnie’s Provecho at the address.

DiCarlo’s told NBC4 that it still holds the lease for the space and retains the right to return should Fat Arnie’s Provecho choose not to continue operations there. President and CFO David DiCarlo said a large portion of the brand’s Westerville customer base traveled from other areas, and the closure was a “calculated move” to consolidate operations at its Short North location.

“I want to emphasize that this decision was not driven by poor sales or financial distress,” DiCarlo said. “This strategy is already paying off, as our Short North sales have increased by 30% over the past two weeks alone while operating from only one location.”…
