PORT CLINTON, Ohio — On the seventh and final celebration of Governor’s Fish Ohio Day on western Lake Erie by Gov. Mike DeWine on Tuesday morning, more than 20 charter boats went out for a morning of walleye fishing.
While a couple of days of strong winds and big waves had abated Tuesday morning, the rough waters made for bumpy fishing conditions and the walleye weren’t biting, unusual for this time of year.
Lake Erie charter captains volunteered to take out state and local legislators, officials with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and members of the media.
