COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The National Weather Service in Charleston, West Virginia, discovered a third tornado path in Washington County in the southeastern part of Ohio after a second field survey. The track, strength and exact path are still being analyzed, based on an aerial survey, and will be released this weekend
The updated NWS report late Friday said there were three distinct storm paths: “The first one originated NE of Marietta and terminated in Belmont, WV. The second one formed west of Newport, OH and tracked through Saint Marys along and then east several miles. The third tornado formed in the Wayne National Forest near Archers Fork Rd and tracked east into WV just north of Saint Marys.”
Powerful storms swept across Ohio Tuesday afternoon and evening, accompanied by heavy downpours, frequent lightning and damaging wind gusts. Earlier reports from four different NWS offices that cover central, eastern and southern Ohio recorded eight tornadoes had touched down in Ohio.
