At least three people have died and nearly 700,000 remain without power following severe storms across the Midwest.
Police in Portage, Ind., confirmed at a news conference that one person was killed in a suspected house explosion linked to a storm that hit the town on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
“During the severe weather event, the Portage Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on the north side of the city,” police said in a news release shared with CW affiliate WGN. “Due to widespread storm damage, debris, and hazardous conditions, emergency responders experienced an extended response time while attempting to access the incident location.”…
