ASHLEY, Ohio (WCMH) — As the deadline for public comment on a proposed highway connector approaches, a Delaware County nonprofit group is asking supporters to speak out over concerns about the project’s proximity to its campus.
Recreation Unlimited, a nonprofit group that provides year-round sports, recreation and educational programs for people with physical and developmental disabilities and health concerns, is alerting its community that the proposed route between U.S. 23 and Interstate 71 could run through a field immediately east of its campus. The organization is urging people to submit comments to the Ohio Department of Transportation by Sept. 1, the final day of the current feedback period. In an email to supporters, Recreation Unlimited Executive Director and CEO Paul Huttlin said the organization is particularly concerned about the potential effects of increased noise and visual impacts on the campus.
