Columbus police investigate death of man whose brother was honored by officers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus police continue to investigate the fatal shooting of a man whose terminally ill brother was named an honorary officer months before his death.

According to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, detectives are at an impasse into the investigation of a homicide that took place 11 years ago on the East Side. The victim, 19-year-old Skyler Wagner, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body on Aug. 31, 2015.

Officers responded to reports of a man lying in the middle of Barnett Road, near East Deshler Avenue in the Linwood area, at around 11:30 p.m. Medics took Wagner to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead soon after. See the latest headlines from NBC4 in the video player above.
