(WJW) – One of Ohio’s popular sport fish is being reeled in at a record-breaking rate.
In a post to Facebook, the Ohio Division of Wildlife announced that in 2025 walleye angler harvest rates set a new record and said “exceptional fishing” is expected to continue.

“Above-average hatch success in eight of the past 11 years has sustained an abundant lake-wide population of walleye, and fish from the large 2015 year-class will provide trophy opportunities,” stated the post.
Walleye are naturally found in Lake Erie and the Ohio River. They’re also stocked into several inland reservoirs, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
