A 13-year-old girl who had been reported missing was found concealed inside a basement crawlspace built beneath the floor of a bedroom closet in Ohio, according to a WBNS 10TV report by Lacey Crisp, as part of a broader operation that recovered 79 missing and endangered children across the state.
The discovery was made Aug. 13 at a home in the 900 block of Hibbs Road in Lockbourne, where U.S. Marshals and other law enforcement officers surrounded the property before going inside and locating the girl. Her recovery then helped authorities find her 16-year-old sister later that same day at a restaurant on Harrisburg Pike in Columbus.
The two sisters were among dozens of children found during Operation Meridian, a monthlong effort that the U.S. Marshals Service described as the largest missing-child operation in Ohio history.
