Ohio state trooper struck by suspected impaired driver on flooded US-23

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A trooper was hit by a passing vehicle while helping with traffic control on a flooded highway. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 12:33 a.m. on Sunday as a Chillicothe Post trooper was assisting the Ohio Department of Transportation with flooding on US-23 near Blain Highway.

Investigators tell ABC 6 the trooper was helping another vehicle when a 2000 Jeep Cherokee traveling on the northbound shoulder hit the trooper with its side mirror.
