NEW ALBANY, Ohio (WCMH) — Les Wexner, the billionaire founder of L Brands who transformed New Albany, is no longer Ohio’s richest person.
Four Ohioans made Forbes’ annual richest people in America list, including Wexner. It is the first time Wexner was not Ohio’s richest man in at least five years. At $9.3 billion, Forbes Wexner’s wealth stayed consistent from 2025. Wexner is the 170th-richest person in the U.S.
San Francisco 49ers majority owner Denise York unseated Wexner with $10 billion, with her wealth increasing as his stayed flat. Hailing from Youngstown, York is the 158th richest person in America.
Study ranks Ohio among most affordable for stay-at-home parents
Wexner, 89, made his wealth through L Brands and as the one-time owner of Victoria’s Secret and other top brands. He is responsible for the 1990s transformation of New Albany from a rural community to a wealthy suburb. Heavily involved with Ohio State University, he stepped down as chair of the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center Board earlier this year, remaining on as chair emeritus.
