Water main break in Downtown Columbus may disrupt service to businesses in the area

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — UPDATE:

  • Division of Water crews are reducing pressure on the 20” main right now to make repairs
  • The High & Cherry Apartments at 255 S. High are impacted by this

A water main break outside the Franklin County Municipal Court prompted emergency repairs as crews have began working to isolate the leak on a 20-inch main which has caused water to pool near Mound and Main streets.

Workers are on scene turning valves in an effort to shut off water to the damaged section so repairs can begin. Because other water lines also serve the area, officials expect limited impacts to nearby buildings.

One building expected to be affected is the Westin Great Southern Columbus. A supervisor with the city of Columbus notified the hotel of an emergency shutoff during repairs, expected to start immediately…
