COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — More than 82 years after his plane was shot down during World War II, U.S. Army Air Forces Staff Sgt. Given Clifford Grooms has finally returned home to Ohio.
An honor guard brought Grooms’ casket off a plane at John Glenn Columbus International Airport on Friday afternoon. The Patriot Guard Riders then escorted him from the airport along Interstate 270 and U.S. 23 toward Waverly, where he will be laid to rest next week.
