OHIO (WOIO) – A new Ohio law changes what happens during traffic stops, and this time it applies to passengers as well as drivers.
House Bill 492 went into effect Tuesday, Oct. 7. Passengers were not previously required to provide identifying information to police. Now they are.
The law says drivers and passengers cannot refuse to give their name, address or date of birth when an officer reasonably suspects a traffic violation. Police cannot ask for anything more than that.
