“Absolute Alien”: Anonymous Big Ten Coach Makes Thoughts Clear on Jeremiah Smith After Massive 206-Yard Outing vs Iowa

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been enjoying plenty of success on offense, bar their loss against Texas, with quarterback Julian Sayin and star wideout Jeremiah Smith ripping defenses apart with their play.

Smith, who is a consensus top-five NFL draft pick, has put on stellar performances throughout the first five games, recording an FBS-best 823 yards, combined with nine touchdowns.

According to a report by The Athletic, an anonymous Big Ten offensive coach used the term “alien” when describing Smith. The coach said:

“They have an absolute alien at wide receiver in Jeremiah (Smith). He is playing as good as any college receiver I’ve ever seen play. They’re using him in more ways. He seems like he’s being asked to run more routes. He’s been doubled so much, and still finds ways to get open. He’s defeating press. It’s a more well-rounded season for him.”

A Miami native, Smith chose the Buckeyes despite a reported $10,000,000 offer from the Hurricanes, claiming it would be “dumb” for him to leave Ryan Day’s program…
