Columbus Humane takes in dogs from Alabama ahead of Hurricane Isaias

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Six dogs evacuated from the Alabama Gulf Coast ahead of Hurricane Isias arrived in Columbus early Saturday morning and were taken in by Columbus Humane.

The dogs were transported from Mobile County Animal Services in Mobile, Alabama, via an overnight ground transport arranged by the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Animal Incident Management team and the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. The van left Alabama on Friday and arrived in Columbus around 8:15 a.m. Saturday.

Columbus Humane accepted six dogs ranging from age 5 months to 5-years-old:

  • Poppy
  • Pippin
  • Yuri
  • Tom
  • Bear
  • Chocco

After arriving, the dogs were placed in individual kennels and given treats and breakfast. Each dog will be assessed for physical and behavioral health concerns and provided appropriate treatment if Columbus Humane determines it is needed…
