New Mexican restaurant set to open downtown in former Bistro building

LANCASTER − A new Mexican restaurant is set to open downtown.

El Parian Steaks & Tequila should open around the middle of next month in the former The Downtown Bistro building at 123 N. Broad St, Raul Reyes said.

Reyes is one of the restaurant’s owners. There is also a location in Zanesville that has been open for 21 years. The restaurant is part of the Tlaquepaque group, which has several locations in Ohio, including Heath and Pataskala.

“Why are we coming to Lancaster?” Reyes said. “We have a lot of customers that come to our Zanesville location. Everybody’s been like, ‘Hey, you guys should go to Lancaster. Open a restaurant in Lancaster please.’ So we try to listen to the people and we try to go where the people want us. We’re really excited to go there and start a new adventure.”

He said the building has been under renovation for about two months now.

“We just started the remodeling inside,” Reyes said. “We’re trying to make it more modern and trying to change it up. There are four or five other Mexican restaurants there (in Lancaster). But our concept of coming there is we’re trying to do something different. It’s going to be a more modern restaurant.”
