Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrests man for breaking into home, stealing Ohio vehicle

WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. — Officials with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested a man after he reportedly stole a vehicle from the Columbus, Ohio area.

According to a post on the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, 35-year-old Alden Baccas was arrested and taken to the Wayne County Jail on one count of burglary and two counts of theft.

A deputy from the office responded to a “disabled vehicle” in the 6900 block of South SR 227 and they found the vehicle to be empty. It was later found to be reported stolen from Columbus, Ohio.

The post read that a nearby resident told law enforcement that an individual, later identified as Baccas, reportedly broken into their home. After he was ran off by the homeowner, Baccas was reportedly seen hiding in a vehicle in their driveway. Officials said that Baccas was able to be located and was taken into custody “without incident.”

“The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the concerned citizens who called to report suspicious behavior,” the post read. “These reports only further aide our efforts in safeguarding life and property around Wayne County!”
