‘Honoring Black History’ 2024 special on NBC4

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – On Thursday, NBC4 honored Black history in central Ohio by sharing the stories of local African Americans.

‘The Conversation’ highlights community changemakers, reflects on 4 years of NBC4 specials

The broadcast shared the story of the unrest at Linden-McKinley High School in the 1970s and showcased the return of the former assistant principal more than five decades later.

Also included in the special was an interview with the head of the Columbus chapter of the NAACP , Nana Watson, who talked about the changes she has seen over the years and why she is still fighting for progress.

Viewers also met Mitchell Brown, the one-time Columbus City Safety Director, a member of the Columbus City Council, and former safety director for the State of Ohio and the City of Cleveland. He told the remarkable story of his beginnings in the first EMT service in the nation.
