Woman shot by Columbus police sergeant clinging to hood of suspected stolen car identified

A driver shot by a Columbus police sergeant who police allege was clinging to the hood of a speeding stolen car has been identified.

Holly Graham, 32, of Columbus, was shot Wednesday afternoon during an attempted traffic stop during an investigation of a stolen car, according to police reports.

A complaint says Graham faces a charge of felonious assault causing serious physical harm to a peace officer.

Columbus police said Thursday the department would not release the sergeant’s name as the Columbus Division of Police considers officers hurt in such incidents as victims whose names do not have to be released. The sergeant is a 10-year veteran of the force.

Medics took the unidentified sergeant to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, Downtown, in stable condition with potentially broken bones. His condition remained unknown as of Thursday morning.

Graham remained in serious condition as of Wednesday night at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where paramedics took her for treatment of her injuries.
