TROY (WWJ) — An out-of-state visitor to Metro Detroit is expected to face drunken driving charges after he was pulled over on Big Beaver Road.
According to Troy Police, officers on Jan. 28 made a traffic stop on the driver of a 2015 Hyundai 4S after noticing that one of the car’s headlights was out.
While speaking with the driver, identified as a 33-year-old man from Galloway, Ohio, “officers noted he was slurring his speech and there was an odor of intoxicants emanating from his vehicle,” according to the police report.
The man failed a series of field sobriety evaluations, police said, and then tested at .179% BAC (blood alcohol concentrations) on a preliminary breath test.
The driver was arrested and taken to the Troy Police lock-up where police said he was read his Chemical Test rights and refused to take a breath test.
After a search warrant was granted, the man’s blood was drawn by medical personnel.
Police said the case was turned over to the detective bureau for appropriate warrants once the blood test results are returned.
