CJ Stroud’s Instant Reaction To Chip Kelly’s New Ohio State Job

Chip Kelly is leaving his head coaching job at UCLA to come be the offensive coordinator at Ohio State under Ryan Day.

It’s not everyday you see a head coach leave his team to take a coordinator job — especially not in the same conference (UCLA’s joining the Big Ten next season).

The whole country was surprised to hear the news, including former Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud, who just won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after a stellar season with the Houston Texans.

Stroud found out about Kelly’s new job during an interview with Yahoo Sports just seconds after the news was announced. The news broke as he was walking up to the interview.

“Oh, that happened?” Stroud asked when he found out. “I think Chip’s going to be an amazing fit. He coached Coach Day in college and that’s kind of where Coach Day got all of his offensive thoughts from and of course put his twist and things on that. So I’m excited to see what Ohio State does this year.”

Kelly was Day’s offensive coordinator when Day was a quarterback at New Hampshire.
