‘Hero’ pilots Edward Murphy and Ian Frederick Hofmann identified as victims in horror Naples I-75 plane crash

THE two people who died after a plane crashed near a Florida highway on Friday have been identified.

The plane left OSU’s airport in Columbus, Ohio on Friday and crashed near I-75 Southbound near Collier County, about 46 miles southeast of Naples, Florida.

The victims were identified as 50-year-old Edward Daniel Murphy, the plane’s pilot, and 65-year-old Ian Fredrick Hofmann, the second-in-command, according to Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

The plane was less than five miles from the runway before it crashed.

Two of the five people were killed while the three others were hospitalized for their injuries.
