Mild weekend, cloudy and cooler week ahead

Columbus and Central Ohio Weather

The weekend ended on the pleasant side, although cooler than Saturday’s balmy high of 61 degrees. Afternoon readings topped out in the upper 40s, with a light northerly breeze.

An area of high pressure will move past the region early Monday. Clouds will increase, with another day of mild readings in the upper 40s.

A potent southern storm system will bring rain back into southern Ohio Monday evening, as low pressure tracks across Tennessee into the central Appalachians, before transitioning to a coastal storm early Tuesday.

As colder air filters into the northwest side of the storm, rain will change to snow after midnight, over higher terrain in southern Ohio, where an inch or two of snow could accumulate before daybreak.

Seasonably chilly weather, though with a little above-normal temperatures, will prevail through the week, with afternoon readings in the low 40s.

A clipper system will bring periods of rain on Thursday. Another system will arrive later in the weekend, with rain returning Saturday night.
