Organization gives free haircuts to homeless

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – A local nonprofit is giving homeless people in Columbus a boost of self-confidence by giving them haircuts.

Columbus-based Make-A-Day held a resource fair, directing those who attended to health checkups and a free meal courtesy of local restaurants.

Organizers said something as simple as a haircut or a new coat can have a serious effect on someone’s life.

“A lot of these folks have given up,” Make-A-Day Executive Director Lindsay Barber said. “They’re very tired and so we try to create a space where they feel good, they look good. We’ve got music, we’ve got parties, we’ve got selfies and they can have a good time.”

Make-A-Day holds haircut events like this every six to eight weeks.
