WESTERVILLE, Ohio ( WCMH ) — A grocery chain giant has announced plans to make a multi-million dollar investment in Ohio.
In a news release, Kroger’s Columbus Division revealed around $68 million will be devoted to the central and northwest Ohio region during 2024. Most notably, the money will be earmarked for opening a new Jerome Village Kroger Marketplace in Union County and a massive 18-store remodel across the Division.

“This investment is yet another demonstration of the commitment Kroger makes each and every day to the customers and communities in which we serve,” said Mark Bruce, Corporate Affairs Manager for Kroger’s Columbus Division. “It also reconfirms our collaboration with our Kroger associates and the Ohio companies and agricultural producers who supply our stores with high quality products.”
Kroger said the Jerome Village location will be the “first net new store in the Kroger Columbus Division since 2009” and is projected to cost the chain nearly $40 million. The store will include an “enhanced” produce, deli, bakery, meat, seafood and sushi sections across 123,000 square feet. An in-store Murray’s cheese shop is also planned, as well as an exterior gas station.
