Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reveals new therapy K9’s name after contest

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office announced the name of its new therapy K9, in what it called the “Puppy Naming Pawsibilities” contest.

In a social media post on Friday, the sheriff’s office shared a picture of the boxer puppy with a graphic of the voting results.

The office related in a previous post that the dog’s new handler, Deputy Kennedy, is a “huge Star Wars fan,” and listed four Star Wars-themed name choices voters could pick. The selections were Mando, Obi, Rex, or Luke.

The caption revealed the winning moniker as Mando.

“Thank you to all who voted,” the caption read. “Mando will join our FCSO Therapy K9 team next week. Stay tuned for his “Pup-Dates” as he goes through his training to become a Franklin County Sheriff Therapy Dog. **May the Paws Be With You!”

The graphic showed Mando received 37.4% of the vote, Obi was next with 37.2%, Rex came in third with 12.5% and Luke was last with 12.8% of the ballots cast.
